The fixed fares, set by law
Taxis between CDG and Paris have fixed fares set by law — the meter does not run inside Paris or to the airport:
| CDG ↔ | Fare (each direction) |
|---|---|
| Paris Right Bank (north of the Seine) | €56 |
| Paris Left Bank (south of the Seine) | €65 |
The fares are set by law and confirmed by the airport authority and the French public-service notice (effective from the 2026 tariff update). Destinations outside Paris proper are metered normally.
Where to get a real taxi
- Official ranks only: outside each terminal exit, marked by illuminated “TAXI” signs.
- Refuse unsolicited offers inside the terminal. Do not accept taxi offers from people approaching you — use the signed official rank outside.
- A staff member directs you to a car at busy times; fares do not depend on which car you get.
Rules that protect you
- The fixed fare covers up to 4 passengers, luggage included. From the 5th passenger, a supplement of €5.50 per extra passenger may apply (2026 official Paris taxi tariff).
- Ask for the fixed fare (“forfait aéroport”) if the screen shows anything else when you arrive.
- Card payment is accepted by all Paris taxis; cash remains fine.
- Tipping is optional — paying a little extra is normal, not required.
Taxi vs the alternatives
With 3+ people, heavy luggage, a distant hotel, or a late arrival after the RER, a taxi can be the more convenient choice — compare the fixed fare for your group against the per-person RER fare before deciding. Solo travelers heading to a central RER B stop usually find the train cheaper. Taxi apps operate at CDG through designated pickup points — follow the app’s walking instructions rather than the taxi rank.
