Do you clear security again when transferring?
Usually the answer follows your direction and ticket type:
- Any connection involving a non-Schengen flight: security screening typically applies.
- Schengen → Schengen on one booking: transfer passengers normally stay in the secure transit area with no second security check.
- Self-transfers and changes through the public area: you check in again and go through security the same as any passenger starting their trip at CDG.
“Typically” is deliberate: terminal layouts, temporary gate reassignments and airline procedures can add a checkpoint. The gate area you end up in is what actually decides, which is why the planner asks for your terminals.
The rules that apply at every checkpoint
- Liquids: containers of max 100 ml each, all inside one 1-litre transparent resealable bag (EU standard at CDG).
- Electronics: large devices (laptops, tablets) come out into a separate tray.
- Shoes and belts: may be asked for separately; metal items go in the tray.
- Spare lithium batteries and power banks: hand baggage only, never checked.
Buying liquids airside
Liquids purchased after security (duty-free, shops) are generally accepted at the next checkpoint when sealed in the security bag with the receipt — but keep the seal intact until your final gate, especially if you transfer again with another screening.
